As glass splashbacks do not need grout between individual pieces, it is the ideal wall covering for a hygienic - wipe clean surface.  In wet areas, grouted joins are a means of water ingress and potential leaks. Obviously the minimising of joint lines reduce the likelihood of leaks or accumulation of germs and grime. Glass splashbacks are not attacked by most kitchen or bathroom cleaning agents and due to glass splashbacks having hard smooth surfaces, they do not have crevices for micro organisms to fester.
